A Staten Island judge has delivered a major blow to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s promise to tax the rich, but the administration quickly moved to appeal it.
A judge on Monday ordered a temporary pause on the mayor’s pied-à-terre tax in a lawsuit challenging the tax’s rollout. A spokesperson for the mayor said the city’s Law Department will “appeal the ruling immediately.”
