Give US Your Poor, Your Not-So Tired but Huddled Masses...

Personally, I think that this idea of welcoming new immigrants could be GREAT for Baltimore. Any smart industrialist would put this undereducated, but highly capable, population to work. If we could find some un-corrupted city officials willing to grease the paperwork, and temporarily suspend many of the onerous building codes and provide a safe environment, the immigrant communities would flourish. A little access to capital would also greatly speed the assimilation process. So counter to the arguments made in this video, I support busing new immigrants to Baltimore. What they're doing now, warehousing potential labor in the inner city, isn't working. It's time to break out of the malaise of over-regulation coupled with generous welfare benefits. It discourages all but "illegal" occupations, like high profit margin drug sales.

But without first establishing adequate policing and decent paying legal job opportunities, importing an immigrant population would be disastrous. Baltimore would become the crime Mecca that hypocritical Democrat politicians like Nancy Pelosi most fear. All Baltimore would get out of the deal would be a higher crime rate. Budding industrialists, construction firms, entrepreneurs, time to step up. If you promise to build it, they will come... and EVERYONE in Baltimore will profit.
