Security guards don't seek to keep people from speaking, or others from hearing, the featured speakers at a rally. They're there to allow the event organizers to speak, not purify the crowd of those who might disagree with the speaker's views.
PPS - The "security guards" dropped out because they couldn't guarantee security under the conditions of the rally permits granted by authorities. All attendees of the rally would have been forced to run a gauntlet of armed counter-protestors.
My friends from Boston Antifa also had the advantage of having the permit granting authorities in their pockets, and could order the police to "stand down" the moment we began jumping beating all the Trump supporters... e-r-r-r-r... Fascists... attending the rally!
