Corporations do what they believe will be of greatest benefit to their bottom line. They correctly assessed that embracing diversity would please customers and positively influence their profits.
Now, with d0n0ld's "victory", they have incorrectly decided that their customers don't like diversity and so are rolling back such programs. And they want to curry favor with the administration and not incur the wrath of Turd-2. That's a bigly component of it. Moreso than them thinking it's what their customers want.
That doesn't mean diversity is bad. It means your side has successfully fooled people into voting for White Supremacy and that a White Supremacist administration is in power. I think many people will ultimately decide they aren't happy with the Turd-2 attack on diversity. Including people that stupidly voted for d0n0ld.

fyi, when someone is hired for a civil service federal government job, they are not asked about their political affiliations. Federal law prohibits discrimination based on political affiliation for federal employees. This is outlined in the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 and enforced by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC).
