Excerpt:
Governor Jerry Brown declared that California would be powered entirely by renewable energy, mostly wind and solar, by 2045. Tremendous pressure was put on Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) the State's largest energy company, to get started on this project.
Here's where Leo (DiCaprio) gets it right, if unintentionally. The green energy mandate turned the power company's attention and resources away from the power grid, and to wind and solar. How did this lead to new and deadlier fires? Let's put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Wildfires can be started in all sorts of ways. Lightning strikes, campfires not properly put out, a cigarette carelessly tossed away, or sometimes straight up arson. But the worst culprit of all is power lines. In 2018, fully half of California's wildfires were started by power lines or related electrical problems. It's not hard to figure out why. California's power grid is ancient. Most of its elecyrical towers were built before 1950. Some of the lines are so old, they qualify for the National Registry of historic places.
The lines that are failing and sparking fires, no surprise, the old ones. The deadliest fire in California history, the 2018 Camp fire that burned down Paradise, was caused by equipment that dates back to 1921, 100-year-old equipment. It's not that the power company didn't know there was a problem. They knew, but they were focused on more pressing political priorities, like green energy. That's where PG&E, a public utility (which just means it's the politicians who call the shots), put its money in resources. In 2018 PG&E spent $2.4 billion on Renewables. By comparison, in 2017, it spent $1.4 billion on existing infrastructure.
Because my Fire Chief NEEDS to be female and LGBTQ+ in order to fight fires...

Moonbeam's crooked little sissy Kathleen got her stash of loot by stealing from PG&E while her flatulent big bald brother pilfered and looted California residents while farting around in Sacramento. Baldy Moonbeam's pappy set up the Brown Crime Dynasty by forcing motorists who had pre 1961 vehicles to retrofit them with his state approved PCV valve retrofit kits, starting in late 1966 in selected regions of California, expanding the theft ring gradually to include all regions by the start of the late 70s. And any non California model from the 1961 and later model year not equipped with a factory PCV Valve setup got forced to be fitted with a State Approved PCV Valve retrofit kit. Those cars and trucks were not permitted by state law to be fitted with the factory PCV valve setup. All 1946-60 vehicles were also not permitted to be retrofitted with a later year model PCV Valve factory set-up. They were also forced to retrofit their cars with NOx Emissions retrofit kits called "Kar Kit". The NOx Emissions retrofit included cars and trucks built from 1961-70. The loot from these devices lines the pockets of the Pat Brown Crime Dynasty which includes Kathleen Brown, her big Baldy Brother Moonbeam and their 2 big sissies. The loot from PG&E feeds the greedy appetites of the Brown Crime Clan Dynasty which also includes Gaffing Gavin Nuisance Newsom and the D'Allesandro-Pelosi crime family associates.
So while California burns down, The Brown, Newsom and Pelosi crime families profit from the windfalls of Federal government aid loot coming their way into their bank accounts. The nephews and nieces of Baldy Moonbeam get a lion's share of the loot while Baldy Moonbeam and his living sissies get some chump change in their pockets.
Nothing beats a government mandate for selling a product!
It's why the big campaign donors donate to Democrats!
And that weasel of a mayor Karen Bass won't be smiling if the residents of Los Angeles finally wake up and see her for the crooked smelly weasel she really is.
Joe, I'll be happy to post the Karen Bass weasel on a new blog post for you to download and use, if you wish.
You couldn't have said it better............Karen Bass should be in huge trouble....Newscum should, too....but their media is SO in their pocket that she could not respond to ONE question upon her return from Ghana and the media won't mention it. Please pray for my Los Angeles.......I think things are better this morning...Winds have calmed down....supposed to pick up again. !!!
That Anonymous is GeeeZ!
Hiya GeeeZ! All is good in Orange County California too. I can smell the smoke from the Pacific Palisades fire from where I am in Northwest Orange County. I have extended family members over there in Pacific Palisades. They're cousins of my cousins. I have yet to hear from my relatives to know if their cousin's house is safe from the fire.
I bet Moonbeam, Gavin and Nancy are feeling huge orgasms over the fire.
VDH is spot on... wealthy Democrats with their luxury values should not have control over the People's purse! They spend frivolously!
Minus: ...wealthy Democrats with their luxury values should not have control over the People's purse! They spend frivolously!
Caring for our fellow Americans and the environment isn't a "luxury". It's called being a decent person. Something republiturds know nothing about. Take the fake christian Mystere for example.
d0n0ld is having orgasms over the fire. It presented an opportunity to call names and spread lies. He can't live unless he's hating and lying. It's essential for him to live, I think. Like breathing is for everyone.
There is no "water restoration declaration". Dementia d0n0ld created it in his delusions.
d0n0ld is the second dementia-addled president in my lifetime. The first was Ronald Reagan. It seems that, for republicans, dementia-American is a diversity hire.
FYI, the "libs of ticktok" graphic presents false information.
Politico: The city was in the process of negotiating a new contract with the fire department at the time the budget was being crafted, so additional funding for the department was set aside in a separate fund until that deal was finalized in November. In fact, the city’s fire budget increased more than $50 million year-over-year compared to the last budget cycle. link
"In 2018, fully half of California's wildfires were started by power lines or related electrical problems. It's not hard to figure out why. California's power grid is ancient".
This is also false.
The average percent of wildfires by cause in California from 2011 to 2015 is: undetermined (24%), miscellaneous (18%), debris burning (14%), equipment use (8%), downed power lines (8%), vehicle fires (7%), arson (6%), lightning (6%), campfires (3%), playing with fire (1%), smoking (1%), not reported (4%). link.
50%? That didn't sound believable. Well, to you I guess it did. But it seems you're very eager to believe fake info, as long as it fits your preferred narrative.
Caring for our fellow Americans and the environment isn't a "luxury". It's called being a decent person.
No, feeding a man a fish every day for the rest of his life instead of teaching him how to fish for himself is a luxury value no properly functioning State can afford. It only reminds you of your need to be "thought" a decent person and not his need to fill his own stomach. As Diogenes the cynic once lamented after being caught masturbating in public, "if only I could rub my belly and make my hunger go away as easily"...
What are the numbers for 2018 (as cited). Your attempt to bait & switch smells like rotten fish...
Wiki AI:
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) determined that PG&E equipment caused 16 of the wildfires that occurred in 2017 and 2018.
Explanation
While utility equipment causes less than 10% of California wildfires, it's responsible for almost half of the state's most destructive fires.
In 2017 and 2018, PG&E equipment was responsible for igniting 16 of the wildfires.
Between 2016 and 2020, 19% of wildfires in California were caused by electrical power networks.
In 2018, California experienced a number of extreme wildfires, including the Camp Fire, which caused $12.5 billion in insured damages.
Other causes of wildfires include:
Burning debris and yard waste
Motorized equipment and vehicles
Campfires
Lightning
Arson
Smoking
Wildfire and Wildfire Safety
Recent fires have resulted in a devastating loss of life and billions of dollars in property and infrastructure damage. Electric u...

btw - In January 2019 PG&E declared bankruptcy due to the costs associated with these fires. In 2020, the CPUC considered PG&E’s petition to emerge from bankruptcy leading to the Commission’s Wildfire Order Instituting Investigation (OII). In that order PG&E and the CPUC agreed to a series of follow-up actions intended to mitigate the risk of future wildfires. The seventh item on that list was to hire an independent firm to undertake a Root Cause Analysis RCA) of each of the 17 wildfires ignitions to “identify gaps that can be closed in order to reduce the risk of future catastrophic wildfires.”

While PG&E has procedures that dictate how and what activities are necessary to design, maintain, and reduce risk, it is apparent that the lack of implementation of the requirements contributed to the frequency and intensity of the wildfires caused by their electrical system components.
...almost half of the State's most destructive fires.
Isn't that 50%?
Copilot: What do you think would be the biggest benefit of having PG&E as a public utility?
Me: running it not for profit instead of for profit would save customers money.
Copilot: That's a strong point. Operating as a non-profit could prioritize customer savings and reinvest earnings into infrastructure improvements, safety measures, and renewable energy projects instead of generating profit for shareholders. This approach might lead to lower rates and better service for customers, especially if managed efficiently.
It's a complex topic, but it's certainly worth discussing, given the challenges and controversies PG&E has faced in recent years. Public utilities in other regions have shown that this model can work well.
Minus: ...almost half of the State's most destructive fires. Isn't that 50%?
You proved that less than 10 percent is actually 50 percent? I think that's a strong case for converting PG&E to a public utility. Is that what you advocate? If so, I agree.
Minus: No, feeding a man a fish every day for the rest of his life instead of teaching him how to fish for himself...
Again, I agree with your conviction that college education (or trade school) should be free. Seems like we're on a roll. As far as agreeing goes. Usually we disagree about everything.
I've proven that placing ancient transformers in unreachable/ inaccessible places cause more destructive fires. Why? Because no one can get to them to put them out.
lol! I got my undergraduate degree in 4 years at a Service Academy, one of those years being spent at sea working as a merchant seaman being paid $10 a day. After I graduated, I had to participate in the US Naval Reserve for 6 years.
You want to hand out "free" educations w/o any service obligations in return. That makes you an idiot.
Want a "free" education? Go to a service academy and fulfill your service commitment.
That's what I did.
ps - My employer paid for my graduate degree. They had to "approve" the program I was in and I had to maintain a passing average. In return I worked for my employer and applied what I learned, and my salary was pretty sh*t.
Getting a "free" education has never been a problem in this country. Getting the US taxpayer to pay for useless victimhood studies is a dumb idea.
By the way, if you want someone to pay for a victimhood degree, do a stint in the US military and kill terrorists in the ME for a few years. In return, I'm sure DOD will gladly pay for it.
Indentured servitude ala "apprenticeships" are readily available... ie - paid/unpaid internships. at least they were BEFORE the government started demanded free money for career college students.
...and indulging the LUXURY VALUES (free education) of Democrats.
