There’s an old saying about “Good Intentions”, and there’s a old very tired ritual in Pogressive, Democratic politics. In Democratic, Progressive politics: repeat the same behavior, ignore the same warnings over, and over, and insist that this time the outcome will be different. That’s not optimism; that’s just plain denial dressed up as virtue. When reality finally punches through the bubble, the response is shock, confusion, and a scramble for explanations that absolve everyone involved.
And Good intentions do not make up for danger. Belief is not a substitute for basic precautions. And ideology does not protect families from consequences. The message is unmistakable and different rules do not always apply when you can afford them. There’s a lesson here to be learned, it’s actually very simple, it’s that ignoring warning signs isn’t necessarily kindness. Last night in Sydney, Australia, there was a mass shooting at a Hanukkah party on the beach. Reports 12 have been killed. They were targeted for no other reason because they are Jewish. A reminder that the Jewish people make up %0.2 of the world population but are at the receiving end of most religious targeted hate crimes. You grew up or live In the tri state or in an area with a large population of Jews? Good for you…but that’s not reality. No one gets to act shocked about this. On the Highest Jewish Holiday of the year Yom Kippur, just 2 month ago, jews were gunned down in manchester attending services. What did i say? I said this is only the beginning and to wake up. We have been screaming into the void for the last 2 years about rise in antisemitism and we have been gaslit or ignored. And for those who parroted or liked/ re-posted blood libel, you don’t get to act shocked either. If you care about what is happening and will absolutely worsen, now is the time to change ways and listen. If you think “well I care but…” then you don’t care.
