The NY Times author Charles Homans accuses Mike Benz of (to paraphrase) "stealing the Left's victimhood" and diminishing it by applying their former arguments to what is now happening to the Populist Right. The Left also wants Benz to appear to be much more benighted because they on the Left were the historically oppressed party, not the currently oppressed and morally unworthy and inferior Populist Right. "They're not victims, they're the former oppressors getting their well deserved comeuppance!"
No Charles. the Populist Right weren't your oppressors back in the 60's/ 70's. The 'elite/ Establishment Right (your current NeoCon allies) were. The Populist Right, at that time, was simply "indifferent", much like most TDS sufferers today.
