I don't know where on the page that stat you cite is. According to my link, "...social distancing reduces the risk of transmitting the virus by 90%, and wearing masks decreases the risk by 65%".
Reported use of cloth face covering or mask 14 days before illness onset (missing = 2) Never 6 (3.9) 5 (3.1) 0.86 Rarely 6 (3.9) 6 (3.8) Sometimes 11 (7.2) 7 (4.4) Often 22 (14.4) 23 (14.5) Always 108 (70.6) 118 (74.2)
Except when they went out to eat or to a bar and weren't socially distant. You can't wear a mask and eat or drink. Also, a mask is less effective if the other person isn't wearing one. Which is what you want.
People who don't wear masks. People who spend to much time around someone who has covid (mask or not). People who go to the White House. People who go to Dotard rallies.
Face masks: what the data say (excerpt) The science supports that face coverings are saving lives during the coronavirus pandemic... To be clear, the science supports using masks, with recent studies suggesting that they could save lives in different ways: research shows that they cut down the chances of both transmitting and catching the coronavirus, and some studies hint that masks might reduce the severity of infection if people do contract the disease.
But being more definitive about how well they work or when to use them gets complicated. There are many types of mask, worn in a variety of environments. There are questions about people's willingness to wear them, or wear them properly. [end excerpt]
:P
ReplyDeleteDr, Fauci is nonsense.
ReplyDeleteAnthony Fauci is highly respected. Scott Atlas is nonsense :P
ReplyDeleteDid Fauci used to peddle the myth of heterosexual AIDS? lol!
ReplyDeleteScott Atlas isn't peddling the myth that masks and social distancing don't work?
ReplyDeleteWhat percent of covid positives were "always" wearing masks? 75? Doesn't sound very effective to me.

ReplyDeleteMasks mandates have major impact, study finds. Analysis shows requiring masks for public-facing U.S. business employees on April 1 would have saved tens of thousands of lives.
....until the next wave hit.
ReplyDeleteMasks are effective against all waves.
ReplyDeleteThen who's catching covid?
ReplyDeletePeople who don't wear masks. People who spend to much time around someone who has covid (mask or not). People who go to the White House. People who go to Dotard rallies.
ReplyDeleteThat's not what the study indicates. :)

btw, a chart isn't a "study".
ReplyDeleteIf I worked inside an infectious disease lab, I'd wear a mask. But it certainly wouldn't be a silly piece of cloth that "passes' for a mask today.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteYou ignore signs that say masks are mandatory inside the establishment?
ReplyDeleteYou only obey your master, Dervy...?
ReplyDeleteI listen to the experts because I'm not a covidiot.
ReplyDeleteI only listen to "experts" with REAL skin in the game. :)
ReplyDeleteYou put "experts" in quotes because you're a covidiot.
