  1. U.S. Senators Joe Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, and Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican, on Thursday proposed bipartisan legislation to ban Russian energy imports ... The bill is getting fast-tracked in the Senate... (Reuters 3/4/22).

  2. Where's the Ralph Wiggum "I'm Helping" meme with the Ukranian flag overlay when we need it?

  3. Joe Biden can't sign an EO? Who knew?

  4. The ban would be largely symbolic, but ultimately ineffective if Europeans don't follow suit as Russia's most captive and largest consumers. We'd lose supplies for around 17 minutes of our daily oil consumption. Europe would lose around 15 hours a day. It's almost as if those two massive, largely untapped underwater oil reserves, one that stretches from Italy's east coast to the western Mediterranean / Levant and south to the Egyptian coast and the other one north of Norway that God put there for times such as this needs to be drilled. Europe is hooked on Russian oil because they want to be.

  6. Deep sea oil rig jobs pay bank, and you'd only occasionally have to rotate back to some stinky southern European coastal city on down time. Practice for living on Mars.

  7. It's not like the Chinese didn't build our railroads.

  8. The first real job offer I ever got was working for SEDCO in the North Sea. I'd have had to live in Aberdeen, Scotland though... and I preferred moving back to California. Biggest mistake ever...

  9. I had a friend that made way too damn much money as a cook on an oil rig. Bought himself a heroin habit that killed him. Dumb bastard.

  10. As I suspected (given that you are pro-Putin), you wanted Biden to ban Russian oil so gas prices would go up and you could blame him.

  11. I don't believe Presidents have much power over gas prices. That's beneath their pay grade.
