Ever read Plato's Republic. It's a description of a "luxurious" Republic. Socrates describes the "Communist" Republic, but life there is too simple, too plain. And so he desribes a republic in a "fevered heat". The "fevered heat" of capitalism. Where "wisdom" exceeds "justice" in the balanced opposition of virtues.

I do not believe a luxurious life is neccesary to be satisfied, happy, or grateful. Having enough to comfortable is enough.

The secret is to give the workers the means of their production. To enable THEM to decide what to produce with their own means. That includes some uncommodified land, labour, capital, and information. Capitalism attempts to completely commodify all four. In other words, the bourgeoisie ARE this uncommodified land, labour, capital, and information. And THIS allows them to create their own culture. Folk culture. Josephine the Mouse Singer Culture. But it comes from THEIR surplus. Capitalism's "surplus" goes to the oligarchs who use their culture industry to keep the proles "amused" with nostalgia that prevents change.

I'm all for solidarity and labor unions. I worked in executive management positions long enough to know capital's goal had always been to crush unions and totally end labor's ability to negotiate working conditions and wages.
People of color are alienated as well. And whether you wish to accept it or not systemic racism does still exist. In government, in business, and other spheres as well.
