Free Sistan and Balochistan (adding Hormozgan Province)!

In the Sistan and Baluchestan Province of Iran, Sunni Muslims make up a clear regional majority, estimated at roughly 60% to 70% of the total population, driven primarily by the dominant ethnic Baluch community.

Demographics and Religion

Ethnic Breakdown: The southern and central parts of the province (Baluchestan) are heavily populated by ethnic Baluch people who predominantly practice Sunni Islam.

The Sistan Region: The northern part of the province (Sistan) is largely populated by Sistani Persians who mainly adhere to Shia Islam.

National Context: While Shia Islam is the official state religion of Iran (comprising 90% to 95% of the national population), Sistan and Baluchestan remains one of the few provinces where Sunnis form the local majority.
The Balochi population in Iran is estimated at roughly 2 to 3 million people (about 2% of Iran's total population). They live mostly in the southeastern corner of the country, primarily in the large province of Sistan and Baluchestan, extending up into parts of neighboring Kerman and Khorasan provinces. [1, 2, 3]
Geographic Distribution
  • Primary Region: Sistan and Baluchestan province, running along the borders of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
  • Main Cities: Zahedan (the provincial capital), Chabahar, Iranshahr, and Saravan.
  • Minority Enclaves: Smaller historical Balochi diaspora pockets are also found further north in parts of Khorasan and Golestan. [1, 2]
Key Demographic Facts
  • Language: Balochi (Western dialects).
  • Religion: Mostly Sunni Muslim (contrasting with the official Shia majority of Iran).
  • Mapping Resources: For visual maps depicting ethnic distributions in Iran, geographic references like the Library of Congress Iran Ethnic map or demographic overviews via Minority Rights Group illustrate their heavy concentration in the southeast. [1, 2, 3]
WASHINGTON, DC / ACCESS Newswire / June 12, 2025 / The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) is announcing the launch of the Balochistan Studies Project. Balochistan has a strategic geographical position and is an important economic gateway, with trillions of dollars' worth of underground natural resources such as oil, gas, uranium, copper, and coal, rare earth elements, and the two deep seaports of Gawadar and Chabahar. Balochistan is the perfect outpost to counter and keep under control Iran, its nuclear ambitions, and its dangerous relations with Pakistan, which may provide Tehran with tactical nukes.
Balochistan ties to Oman
Balochistan and Oman share deep historical, demographic, and geopolitical ties spanning millennia across the Arabian Sea and the Makran coast. These connections range from ancient maritime trade and shared tribal lineages to Omani sovereignty over the port city of Gwadar until 1958.

Demographic and Cultural Links

Omani Baloch: An estimated 20% to 30% of the population in the Sultanate of Oman is of Baloch descent. Centuries of migration from the Makran coast have integrated these communities into mainstream Omani society, where they hold prominent roles in civil life, culture, and the military.

Military Service: For generations spanning the 18th to 20th centuries, Baloch fighters served as key mercenary and regular security forces for Omani rulers, forming the backbone of early modern Omani military structures.

Shared Heritage: Traditional music, dance (such as Chaapi), and linguistic threads remain shared across the coastal regions of Balochistan and Oman due to continuous historical movement across the Gulf of Oman.

The Gwadar Connection

Omani Exclave: The strategic coastal town of Gwadar in present-day Pakistani Balochistan was ruled as an overseas possession of Oman for over two centuries, beginning in the late 1700s.

The 1958 Transfer: The Gwadar Purchase transferred sovereignty of the enclave from Muscat and Oman to Pakistan on September 8, 1958, formally ending direct Omani territorial administration in the region

Hormozghan

Hormozgan Province

Hormozgan Province in southern Iran has an official population of 1,776,415 people according to the 2016 national census, with recent statistical estimates placing the current population at approximately 1.8 to 2.0 million people. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Census and Growth Data
  • 2016 Census: 1,776,415 people
  • 2011 Census: 1,578,183 people
  • 2006 Census: 1,403,674 people
  • Capital City: Bandar Abbas (the largest city and primary port) [1, 2, 3, 4]

In Hormozgan Province, Iran, local estimates indicate that Sunni Muslims make up roughly 40% of the population, while Shia Muslims make up the remaining 60%. Official precise census data broken down by sect is not published by the Iranian government, but regional clerical and demographic estimates place the province close to a 40–60 split.

Demographic Breakdown by Region

Sunni Majority/Significant Areas: Sunni populations are heavily concentrated in the coastal areas, southern islands, and specific counties bordering other minority-populated regions (such as parts near Baloch and Arab communities).

Shia Majority Areas: Counties located further inland or away from the immediate coastal/border peripheries—such as Bashagard, Hajiabad, and Rudan—have clear Shia majorities.

On Bandar Lengeh Region of Hormozgan Province

Bandar Lengeh on Iran's Persian Gulf coast was historically dominated by the Huwala (or Hooula) Arabs— Sunni tribes who migrated from the eastern Arabian coast. The most prominent among them were the Al Qasimi (Qawasem) dynasty, who governed the port from the late 18th century until 1887, alongside other Shibkoh-region tribes like the Bani Hammad and Al Marzooqi. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Tribes and Groups
  • Al Qasimi (Qawasem): The ruling Arab family/confederation (also rulers of Sharjah and Ras al-Khaimah) who transformed Bandar Lengeh into a major flourishing trade and pearl-distributing hub. [1, 2]
  • Bani Hammad (Al-Hammadi): An immigrant Arab tribe that controlled surrounding coastal areas, villages, and local fortifications like the Kalat Castle. [1, 2]
  • Al Marzooqi (Marazeeq): Early documented settlers and traders along the Shibkoh littoral who engaged in maritime commerce and local trade. [1, 2]
  • Other Huwala Elements: Inclusive of smaller maritime groups like the Al-Ali, Obaidly, and Al-Harami, who moved fluidly between both shores of the Persian Gulf for trade, fishing, and pearling. [1, 2, 3]
Historical Context
  • Governance: The Arab sheikhs functioned as hereditary local governors under nominal Persian sovereignty until Tehran reasserted direct administrative and tax control. [1, 2]
  • Decline: When central Iranian rule imposed stricter tax and customs policies in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the economic power of these tribes waned, causing many families to migrate back to the southern Arabian side of the Gulf (such as Sharjah, Dubai, and Qatar)

  5. Anyone not regretting voting for donald trump now is clearly out of their mind. Though even before donald violated his campaign vow to start no new wars, you have to wonder why people supported him. Just due to being hate filled racists, it seems. And/or incredibly stupid. Kamala Harris would obviously have been a significantly better choice.

  6. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said that he is consulting with city authorities over the possibility of arresting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the city for the United Nations General Assemblyi on September.

In an interview with The New York Times released on Saturday, Mamdani reiterated his view that Netanyahu, who is the subject of an ICC arrest warrant for possible crimes against humanity in Gaza, must be brought to justice for the Israeli military’s actions in Gaza.

  7. On June 18, Bernie Sanders the Socialist Oligarch introduced his American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act a law that the Vermont senator’s office says would “give the public a direct ownership stake in the largest AI companies in America” via a one-time 50% tax on AI company stock (1). They estimate that the tax would raise about $7 trillion, a portion of which could be used for the $1,000 payments.

One major problem with this "Dumbass Socialist, Democrat’s plan" is that the funding is always over estimated, so what happens is that the tax payer ends up footing the bill. Have to be some kinda Stupid to think the Stupid Ole Commi Oligarch who has several Mansions and flies private jets, is to make life easier.
I can remember when years ago when I read in the newspaper that Burlington, VT had elected a Socialist Mayor. I laughed and shook my head and rolled my eyes.
Years later, that Socialist Mayor, Bernie Sanders, is one of the most destructive forces in American history, spreading his false, and phony promises while making millions for himself. What a phony asshole. A typical Communist. All communist leaders have died millionaires or billionaires, money ripped off from citizens forced to give up freedom to fund the Great G-d Government.
