Managed Housing Scarcity to Keep Real Estate Values Inflated
from Google AI:
- "Abundance theory" refers to several related concepts, primarily a modern political/ economic philosophy (Abundance Liberalism) advocating massive investment in supply (housing, energy, transport, science) to solve scarcity, contrasted with older ideas of a limitless, faith-based mindset or ecological views of vast natural resources, all generally aiming for growth by removing bottlenecks rather than focusing solely on redistribution.
Political & Economic "Abundance Agenda" - "Core Idea: A supply-side progressivism focused on creating abundant resources (housing, clean energy, tech) to overcome scarcity, reduce costs, and improve living standards, especially in "superstar" cities.
- Proponents: Popularized by journalists like Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson (authors of the book Abundance), it seeks to solve problems like high housing costs and healthcare access through innovation and growth, not just welfare
- Policy Focus: Building more houses, public transit, power plants, and investing in science, challenging regulatory hurdles and "Not In My Backyard" (NIMBY) opposition.
- Political Goal: To offer a positive alternative to traditional left-right divides, appealing to moderates and addressing issues beyond just redistribution.
- Philosophical & Mindset
- "Abundance"Mindset: A belief that the world offers limitless possibilities, focusing on creating wealth and potential rather than scarcity.
- Ecological View: Seeing the Earth as a vast system of material flows, where technology can tap into natural abundance, as described in some philosophical texts.
- Other Meanings
- Factor Abundance (Trade Theory): A technical concept ineconomics defining a country's relative endowment of production factors (like labor or capital) for international trade.
- Relative Species Abundance (Ecology): The proportion of different species within an ecological community, a core concept in biology.
Like all of those on the left, Gavin Newsom is backing Russia and the European Kings on the Greenland issue, so his disappointment on Trump’s Winning instead of failing is very visible over the Nationand as well as the entire world!
ReplyDeleteCalifornia isn’t failing because problems are too complex; it’s failing because its ass-wipe governor hair-gel would rather chase headlines, cash in on tragedy, and audition for national power than do the hard, unglamorous work of fixing what’s broken. While Newsom lectures the country, his own state bleeds people, jobs, and credibility. This isn’t leadership. It’s neglect wrapped in ambition, and Californians are the ones paying the price.
Newscum needs to stop sticking his nose in things he has no business snooping around in, and concentrate on California’s big problems with the Crime, and Homeless, and pehaps get those people who are still suffering from losing their homes and everything else they owned from the fires, and get their homes re-built! On second thought.....Maybe he should just stay in Davos.
And who gives a crap about what he thinks about everything else?
Because the LAST thing that the people of California are thinking about is HIS RUNNING FOR THE PRESIDENCY!

And lets NOT forget the Big Investigation they need to take and keep in the spotlight, Timmys big Fraudulent gifts to the Somalis. No, lets not allow these Mobs Distract from the Giant fraud those people have committed, not at all..
And if Timmy Walz had ANYTHING to do with it, then charge him with aiding and abetting, arrest him, and then prosecute him for accessory to any crimes that he and including Ilhan Omar and any other of those illegals committed.
Neither Tim Walz nor Ilhan Omar will be arrested or charged with crimes. Because they didn't commit any. There is no evidence to use in a prosecution.
DeleteIn the future we could very well see Gavin Newsom as president, Eric Swalwell as governor of California and Amy Klobuchar as governor of MN. In regards to likelihood, I would say that Klobuchar WILL be the next MN governor if she decides that is what she wants. I also think that, baring a incredibly bad choice, the next US president will be a Democrat.
DeleteIf donald trump doesn't croak, I think there is a chance he ends up in prison where he belongs. I don't know how likely that is. Perhaps more unlikely than likely, but I do know he definitely belongs behind bars for all the crimes he has committed. He might flee to Argentina. He did gift 40 million to Javier Milei, so Milei does owe trump.
This is not to diminish what is going on in this country or to belittle how horrible and abusive this mass deportation initiative has gotten. It is awful and it sickening. Yet, there is a huge difference between unfairly facing deportation vs being declared a non citizen bc of your Jewish ethnicity and then hiding from the systematic genocide that killed 6 millions Jews. It’s not the same. Not all tragedies are parallels.
ReplyDeleteThis is not to say that people shouldn’t stand up for the injustice happening right now. You should . You should use your voice. You should call it out and you should fight it. You should hold elected officials accountable. You should be able to do all of that without appropriating and using our generational trauma for political ammo. You don’t need to use our pain to legitimize your concerns, as your concerns can stand on its own.
Not to mention, this hands the opponents easy ammunition to dismiss legitimate concerns as hysterical. It literally hurts the fight. The only thing it has been successful in doing is upsetting holocaust survivors and their descendants who for the most part as a collective are asking for everyone to stop the trivializing.
ReplyDeleteWhy did Alex Pretti bring a Hand-Gun with two Magazine of Bullets to a "Peaceful Protest" instead of a sign, or a Banner?
It doesn't. btw, I don't see that you presented an argument supporting the claim your blog post title makes. The video doesn't make it. The text doesn't make it. There is nothing but the title for me to assess and disagree (likely) or agree (unlikely) with. I'll hold off until (and unless) you decide to put an actual argument forward.
ReplyDeleteHow is "abundance "in Housing (goal) served by tearing down houses (and not rebuilding)? The real estate prices are being stabilized, not reduced through "abundance". Housing remains "unaffordable" thereby.
DeleteThis is a policy of housing "scarcity", not "abundance".
DeleteIn other words, tearing down Section 8 Housing to build parks is "gentrification". It's the opposite of "abundance". How long have Democrats governed in Baltimore??? Talk about poor and working class people voting against their best interests....
Delete...and the same is true for every Democrat run city in the country.
Delete"Open" and "Green" Spaces are Luxury values.
DeleteWe haven't achieved the AGI Technological Singularity yet... But hey, "Neoliberal Corporate Wokeness is your thing... so keep faking it until you make it!
DeleteNo Fully Automated LUXURY Space Communism for You!
DeleteIt's Romulan/ Klingon Technofeudalism for you!
DeleteCall me after I start living with the Ferengi and we'll compare notes.
Baltimore... where abundance theory meets the Tragedy of the Commons.
DeleteThe theory of abundance is never mentioned in the video you imbedded.
Delete...and the Myth of the Efficacy of the Administrators of the Commons.
DeleteYou're right. It's not in the video. The video represents the opposed reality to abundance theory. Scarcity to stabilize "price".
DeleteMeden again! Opposed 'qualities/virtues'. Quantity creates quality!
DeleteIf, in your worldview, homelessness is necessary, why do you criticize Democrats for not fixing the problem?
DeleteSee... cretin even dunno what it babbling. As ever.
DeleteSo what DEMN commie? "homelessness is necessary"??? %^))))))))))
